There's a cat living in my home
well, there's two of em'
But this is about only one of them

Government Name: Turnbuckle
But we call him:
Tibby, Toby, TB, Tib, Tibius, Tiberius Leviticus, Toblerone, Tiberium,
Worm, Wormy, Boytown, Tibothy Chalamy, Trans Tiberian Orchestra
All cats have many names*
Him especially

Names that wane with each tide of affection
Given and withdrawn out of frustration
Or whimsy and adoration
Depending on the level of destruction
He has wrought at any given time

What an unruly, wild child of a cat
To love and to house
To feed and to hide plastic from
He is the loudest purrer in town

I never knew love like this before him
Seemingly conditional
But mostly challenging
I can only hope to be a better parent

* What is the name he has for himself?
Since this was written I have far more patience for his antics,
and he's grown calmer
He continues to gain more names
